Out of the Blue (1998) is inspired by sequences in animated films: An object, moving much like in a flipbook, wanders from painting to painting through the compositional format of the seven-part series. For example, in the first cycle of the series, a blue square moved from left to right through the sequence. If you were to photograph these images and show them in quick succession, it would result in a film snippet.
