The work Solidarijut (2008), which was created for the Bigler/Bergheimer-Preis, is composed of nine images that each show a Hebrew letter and a Latin letter in Kurt Bigler’s handwriting.
Taken together, the Hebrew letters spell the word »Solidarijut« (Solidarity), the other letters the German word »Mitgefühl« (Sympathy). The handwritten letters are taken from a list that Kurt Bigler wrote in a concentration camp when he was 16,noting the names of friends whom he did not want to forget. Prizewinners each received one of the images.
